Welcome

Welcome to Dublin’s 5th International Piano Festival & Summer Academy!

The leading programme of its kind in Ireland, DIPF attracts students and audiences from all over the world to Dublin for a nine-day festival full of lessons, masterclasses, and performances. From 22nd -30th July 2017, DIPF will bring concerts from top class international pianists to the National Concert Hall (NCH) and the Hugh Lane Gallery while hosting a full academy of international pianists taking part in public masterclasses and seminars. The programme offers an intensive educational experience for advanced piano students as well as an exciting concert series open to the public.
Every year we invite highly regarded pianists with prestigious university positions and prizes in international competitions to perform and teach in Dublin as our core faculty. It is a great pleasure to welcome back our core festival faculty who includes Evelyne Brancart from the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University - Bloomington, Lance Coburn from the Royal Irish Academy of Music, Orla McDonagh, Head of the Dublin Institute of Technology Conservatory of Music & Drama, and Artistic Director Archie Chen.

In addition to our core faculty, this year we are privileged to invite to the concert hall and the masterclass stage renowned American pianist Frederic Chiu and Ethan Uslan, 3-time winner of the World Championship Old-Time Piano Playing Contest; who will lead masterclasses with our Summer Academy students.

With a brilliant lineup of performers and teachers, we look forward to welcoming students and audiences to Dublin to share all this great city has to offer!

About Us

Festival Director Couple
Founded in 2012 by pianists Archie Chen and Rhona Gouldson, the Dublin International Piano Festival & Summer Academy was created to meet the need for a high-quality holistic program of piano in Dublin. Rhona’s work as Founder and Director of the Piano Academy or Ireland and the National Piano Festival combined with Archie’s vast international experience over years of teaching and performing (in venues such as Carnegie Hall, The Lincoln Center, the National Concert Hall and the Vatican) makes them the perfect duo to spearhead the effort of opening up spaces for international pianists to perform and study in Dublin.
DIPF’s mission is to assist the next generation of pianists through a program of piano tailored to foster excellence and to promote and present the international piano masters to audiences in Dublin, promoting Dublin as a central hub for mastery in piano.
